| `Plaintext` | 0 | Plain text communication (no encryption). |
| `Ssl` | 1 | SSL/TLS encrypted communication. |
| `SaslPlaintext` | 2 | SASL authentication over plain text. |
| `SaslSsl` | 3 | SASL authentication over SSL/TLS. |
